Public Meeting on the Creation of an
AIDS Memorial Park in the West Village
Thursday, October 20th at 6:00pm
P.S. 130, Hernando de Soto Auditorium
143 Baxter Street, Manhattan
Queer History Alliance, led by Paul Kelterborn and Brooklyn's own Christopher Tepper, is advocating for the creation of an AIDS Memorial Park and Teaching Center as part of the redevelopment of the site currently occupied by the now-bankrupt St. Vincent's Hospital.ÃÂ St. Vincent's housed one of the largest and most important AIDS wards and is often referred to as the "ground zero" of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s.ÃÂ Its redevelopment offers a unique opportunity to memorialize the more than 100,000 New Yorkers who died of AIDS, and to honor the many caregivers and activists who helped change the trajectory of the epidemic.
For more details, visit queerhistoryalliace.org.
On Thursday night, please join Queer History Alliance, LID and other partner organizations for a public meeting of Manhattan's Community Board 2, and show your support for the creation of the AIDS Memorial Park.

A Rally for Homeless LGBT Youth
Monday, October 24th, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Union Square South
On October 24th, New York's LGBT community and its supporters will rally to support our most vulnerable youth and to demand that every homeless youth in NYC be provided with safe shelter. We will assemble to affirm the basic human value of caring for our youth and to assert that young people should not be thrown out of their homes, nor should they be left on the streets without shelter. We want our elected officials to hear loud and clear that we are a community that will seek to protect our teens.
