L.I.D. Endorses Eliot Spitzer for Governor and Sean Patrick Maloney for Attorney General

Wednesday night Lambda Independent Democrats (LID), Brooklyn's lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT) political club, endorsed Attorney General Eliot Spitzer for Governor. Spitzer appeared before the club and spoke about a wide range of topics from his support for gay marriage to welfare reform to amending NYC's HIV confidentiality laws to the Atlantic Yards project.

"Brooklyn's LGBT community is proud to support Eliot Spitzer for New York State Governor. As our state's next leader Eliot's support for gay marriage as a right in the continuing evolution of civil rights laws will help get New Yorkers thinking through the need to end discrimination in marriage for LGBT people," said LID Co-President Gary Parker.

LID also endorsed openly-gay candidate Sean Patrick Maloney for Attorney General. Maloney previously received the endorsement of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, the national organization that identifies and supports highly-qualified LGBT candidates, and the Empire State Pride Agenda, New York's LGBT political organization.

"We are proud to endorse Sean Maloney for New York State Attorney General. Sean has a tremendous record of public service and is one of the brightest and most exciting of a new generation of LGBT leaders who are making terrific contributions in mainstream politics," said Christopher Murray, LID's Co-President. More information about Maloney can be found at www.seanmaloney.com.

LID also endorsed Comptroller Alan Hevesi for another term, as well as Assemblymembers Joan Millman and James Brennan and State Senator Velmanette Montgomery.
